The Socialists have formalized changes to the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, which sanction the establishment of 11 permanent parliamentary committees, 7 of which will be led by Prime Minister Edi Rama's majority. Meanwhile, 4 committees will be led by the opposition.
The new structure in the organization of the Assembly was presented at the SP Assembly meeting on September 11, while Parliament is expected to formalize the change, as only 71 votes are needed to approve the changes.
The opposition, for its part, claims that the majority is not respecting the deadlines, requesting at least 1 week to discuss the changes. But Taulant Balla, head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, said that the Assembly should constitute the Council for Regulation and Mandates, the only structure in Parliament where the changes can be discussed and agreed upon.
