It has now become normal that whenever national protests are called, the Prime Minister's Office building is armored. Its doors, on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, are covered with metal sheets, an additional measure, beyond the hundreds of police and Guard forces that are engaged in protecting the central government building.
Almost 24 hours before Adriatik Lapaj's "Albania Becomes" is to hold its national protest, the Prime Minister's Office building has been armored under the supervision of the Guard. Such a measure usually occurs when there is information about clashes or tensions, which occur when there is a relatively high turnout.
This also happened at the last protest called by the DP on January 24, where there was no shortage of Molotov cocktails and fireworks, while the police did not hesitate to use tear gas.
Lapaj has called for a protest away from party flags, a civic protest, as he puts it, while on more than a few occasions, "Albania Becomes" activists have clashed with the police, whenever the latter has seized the improvised tents or heated chairs from protesters who stood on the sidewalk in front of the Prime Minister's Office during the night.
It is not known whether the same measures will be taken by law enforcement during Saturday's protest, which is expected to start at 6:00 PM, as they were a week ago, but what is known so far is that the Guard has armored the government building.
