Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku commented on the opening of the first group chapters of Albania's negotiations with the EU.
She said that the process for opening the first chapters for integration should have started 10 years earlier.
The deputy added that it is a very long process with painful reforms. She added that it is a technical process and there are many questions that people do not understand.
Tabaku emphasized that yesterday showed that the negotiations had not been officially opened before.
"Today is the beginning of the last road. It should have started 10 years ago. We are on a road that should have been opened in time. The opening of the chapters is not the final objective, but it is the path to the EU membership. It is a very long process with painful reforms. We spent a lot of time saying did they open or didn't they open. Yesterday showed that the negotiations had not officially opened.
The most difficult chapters have been opened, which does not mean that we will be better today that the negotiations have been opened, because the criteria are the same that we are working to meet. This is a technical process and there are many questions that people do not understand. Control and monitoring by the EU now begins. Everything earlier was in the framework of political discussions and rhetoric. now the Albanian government must make the reforms", said Tabaku for "Ora News".
