Why did the opposition forget the issue of Olta Xhaçka's mandate?
Mandates Council

The SP itself a few days ago signaled that it has no intention of getting involved in Xhaçka's case, the fact that the DP itself has not asked to convene the Council of Mandates is surprising...

The new parliamentary session started with momentum and debates this year, but more attention was paid to the changes in the government and the debates within the opposition, than the issues that have remained pending in the Parliament.

As the PD continues to debate who has the stamp and who is the president, it has left the issue of Olta Xhaçka's mandate in oblivion. Although Edi Rama dismissed her as a minister and Olta has many problems with justice, she continues to be a member of the Parliament of Albania. A year ago, a process was started to remove her mandate because her husband turned out to be a strategic investor, but the process has only dragged on. In the last session, the majority blocked the process and managed to postpone it, but in this session the opposition has not made any request to start the discussions. For almost 8 months, the decision of the Constitutional Court has not been implemented and no party has reacted.

In July of this year, the socialist majority demanded a return to the zero point of the debate on this issue.

During the meeting of the Council of Legislation, the socialist members announced their position to recommend to the president of the assembly, Lindita Nikolla, to return the matter to the Council of Mandates and Regulations for review, almost 1 year after this council finished the discussion on this matter .

Klotilda Bushka read the 26-page report, which came to the conclusion that the motion remains to be handled by the Council of Mandates as a competent structure, even though in the previous parliamentary practice the decisions of the Constitutional Court went directly to the plenary session for decision.

Bushka said that in this case it was about a different provision of the Constitution that required a return for discussion.

So now the Council of Mandates must be convened. The Constitution has forced this council to accept the recommendations of the opposition and in the end be the court that decides if there is a conflict of interest.

The SP itself a few days ago signaled that it does not intend to engage in this aspect. "You will learn our attitude very quickly. Our position of the SP group has nothing to do with Xhaçka's involvement in matters that are not legal. Let's see what opinion the forums of the Assembly will bring and then we will talk", said the head of the SP group, Bledi Çuçi, at the beginning of the week. But while the SP defends it, why does the opposition not ask for the review to begin?! / Pamphlet
