Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, during an interview, raised strong concerns regarding the way the Socialist Party and the political system in Albania function today.
During the interview on 'Çim Peka LIVE', he stated that political patronage has become a means of pressure and blackmail against citizens and administration employees.
" The patronage system, which should be a normal practice for every party, has turned into a bread patronage system. Administration employees are threatened to secure votes. This is not the Socialist Party I know."
"It is shameful that instead of building a fair and democratic system, we have ended up in this situation ," Ahmetaj said.
He brought to attention specific cases, mentioning that his sister and brother-in-law have been threatened for participating in meetings abroad.
