Former Minister of Finance Arben Malaj has reacted to the government's action to vacate public spaces, mainly in Vlora, describing the action as illegal and anti-democratic.
Malaj stressed to News24 that decisions should be made by institutions, not by single individuals. He criticized the collective resignations of local directors, saying they are dictated by the leader and not based on real responsibility.
According to him, governance should be led by professional administration and not by the personal will of the prime minister.
" Edi Rama's intervention to free up public spaces is illegal, powers are separated. Albania can have good results when it is governed by institutions and not by an individual. Decisions should be made by institutions and not by certain people. No matter how capable the prime minister is, he cannot do everything. Rama is in an anti-democratic element, he is the prime minister in the morning and in the afternoon he goes and does the duty of the mayor of Vlora. Rama has not gone well with any of the mayors. Ermal Dredha should not sign the dismissal of the directors. He did not sign, the directors resigned. Vlora belongs to the people of Vlora and not to the SP or the DP. The directors know the city well.
If Ermal Dredha implements Rama's order, then the directors can go to court and win the first trial, which is financial abuse. The resignation cannot be collective, because if mistakes have been made, the responsibilities are individual. I am disappointed in those who resign because the leader asks them to. They are governed by an administration that is as professional as possible. Rama has gotten himself into trouble, as the people of Shkodër say. Even earlier, reality has shown that even after actions were taken, the sidewalks are blocked again , "said Malaj.
