I tell the members of the Supreme Court not to waste their time judging how I do the job for which the Albanian people voted me...
Prime Minister Edi Rama has crossed every line in his war on the justice system. After the attacks on judges in recent days, today the High Judicial Council issued a response, a half-hearted response for the sake of truth, as Rama's name was not mentioned.
But this reaction seems to have worried the prime minister, who has gone so far as to intimidate members of what is called the "judicial government," which is a completely independent body.
Rama has even made it clear to them that they should not dare to deal with him, because according to him, the only judge is the people, while they should deal with judges who make arbitrary decisions.
" I tell the members of the Supreme Court of Justice not to waste their time judging how I do the job for which the Albanian people voted me - my daily judge to whom I have no choice but to openly explain why some illegal buildings in the middle of the road, which receive the unjustifiable protection of some judges insensitive to the public interest, are not removed like the others - if they focus on their own work, which leaves much to be desired in the function of Albania 2030 in the EU ", Rama says.
Full reaction
I read the reaction of the Supreme Court of Justice, the highest body of judicial self-government, regarding what I have shared with the public about some scandalously brutal decisions by judges who have come to the defense of the occupants of public space, to the detriment of the legal order, the public interest, as well as the communities directly affected by these decisions.
The Supreme Court of Justice has been neglected for too long, forgetting that its fundamental role is to be concerned about the quality of justice, as well as to guarantee the public that decisions made by judges to its detriment do not go unanalyzed and that judges are not evil people who do whatever they want with the law in the name of independence.
The Supreme Court has also forgotten that as the highest instance of judicial self-government, it has not only the right but also the duty to take seriously the concerns of parties affected by blind decisions of judges, which in this case are futile due to the lack of sensitivity to the public interest.
The Supreme Court has forgotten other more important things, but at least it has said a truth that I very much agree with, underlining that "any complaint or claim regarding the conduct or integrity of a judge should be addressed to the relevant institutions", which is something that I have informed the public about in each of the cases, that we will do by addressing the Supreme Court and the ILD as the "relevant institutions".
Closing with that for today, I tell the members of the Supreme Court of Justice not to waste their time judging how I do the job for which the Albanian people voted me - my daily judge to whom I have no choice but to openly explain why some illegal buildings in the middle of the road, which receive the unjustifiable protection of some judges insensitive to the public interest, are not removed like the others - if he focuses on his own work, which leaves much to be desired in the function of Albania 2030 in the EU.
