Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again criticized the judges' request regarding the issue of salary increases.
During a live broadcast, Rama highlighted that the Judges' Association has also requested salary increases for judges who have been removed from the justice system through the vetting process due to unjustified assets.
"We decided in 2016 an extraordinary salary increase, as an expression of the will and message of that reform, which is a sacrifice of taxpayers, that you are fair, independent, impartial. But, from the 2016 decision to creating the opportunities to have that salary fund, it takes time. When we passed that package, this was not Albania. Today it is a different Albania. How can this be with a magic key. You continue with another thing, I am surprised how you are still discussing it.
"You have gone to the Constitutional Court to increase the salaries of those whose vetting was removed, to ask Albanian taxpayers to pay higher salaries, for those whose vetting was removed, because they had unjustified wealth, for the corrupt and bloodthirsty of the Albanian people, they deserved a salary increase, just like those who passed the vetting. You should be the first to worry about equality before the law," said Rama.
