IMF Report on Albania, Tabaku: The captured system serves the oligarchs and the

Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku has reacted to the International Monetary Fund report, noting that the economy is weighing on the pockets of Albanians.

In a post on the social network "Facebook", Tabaku said prices are becoming unaffordable as they are increasing every day, while salaries and pensions remain unchanged.

The MP listed some of the points proposed as solutions to the situation, while emphasizing that the situation in the country is 'the result of a captive system that serves only a handful of wealthy people, while Albanian families face great difficulties'.

“IMF: Albanian economy is weighing on families’ pockets! In its latest report, the IMF has confirmed what every Albanian family feels every day: our economy is in crisis. Rising prices, stagnant wages – Food, energy and rents are becoming increasingly unaffordable, while salaries and pensions remain low. A system that serves the powerful – Tax breaks and support for oligarchs harm honest businesses and ordinary families.

Lack of opportunities for young people – Our young people are leaving because they see no honest opportunity to build a future here. What can we change? Low, fair and just taxes for small and medium-sized businesses that support Albanian families. Help to afford living – higher pensions and support for low-income families. Reform for a fair economic system, where not only the rich and privileged benefit.

"Albania needs an economic emergency plan! It's time for the economy to serve the citizens, not to further enrich a handful of people ," writes Tabaku.
