The former Democratic Party MP has commented on the 3 names proposed by the opposition parties for mayor of Tirana.
According to Salianj, the candidate for the largest municipality in the country, which is that of Tirana, must be a political person and must be selected based on competition within the party.
" My opinion has been that in the municipality of Tirana, as the largest municipality, there needs to be a kind of mobilization beyond the ordinary and in conditions where political parties cannot seek non-political candidates. There are certain competitions and certain rules within the parties that determine who is a candidate and who gets the chance that rarely happens to people, to have this opportunity to run for the municipality of Tirana. But the situation due to discussions with smaller opposition parties has reached a situation of approximation to one candidate... when in fact none of the 3 names seem non-political to me ," Salianji told Euronews Albania.
