Former Democratic MP Myslim Murrizi has issued a strong statement regarding the by-elections expected to be held in Tirana and 5 other municipalities.
In an interview for the "Breaking" show on Top News, he stated that the Democratic Party cannot enter this race with unknown candidates or those imposed by personal interests.
According to Murriz, the name that should represent the DP against the majority candidate, Ogerta Manastirliu, is Jorida Tabaku, whom he described as the "most voted democrat" in the last elections. He added that even if Tabaku does not accept, the party should "force" her to run, in the service of the democrats.
" For me, Jorida Tabaku should be the candidate for Tirana. She is the most voted Democrat. Even if she doesn't, she should be forced to serve the Democrats. It doesn't work with a non-political candidate. If they don't want a political candidate, they should tell us the reason because they need to be held accountable. I think it's their personal interest ," said Murrizi.
He added that a "non-political" candidate would not have support from either him personally or from the DP base. " The DP has plenty of names that it can put forward as candidates, they have history within the party, they are former students of December. I never vote for an anonymous candidate ," the former MP said.
