Blinken was welcomed by his Albanian counterpart, Foreign Minister Igli Hasani.
This is Secretary Blinken's first visit to Albania. Numerous security forces are engaged to guarantee security throughout his 8-hour visit to the Albanian capital.
Many operatives are in the VIP premises of the Rinas airport, where the plane of the American Secretary of State will arrive in about 90 minutes.
Several US Marines are also present.
The first stop in the capital will be at the American embassy in Albania, where there will be a meeting with its employees to express appreciation for the work done in strengthening relations between the two countries.
The agenda includes a meeting with President Bajram Begaj and then a stop at the Tirana pyramid, where he will meet about 100 young people who have had the opportunity to experience the American experience through studies or exchange programs.
Around 16:00, the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to start, and then a joint conference for their media at the premises of the prime minister.
