Pact with Italy for immigrants, Rama: We are not doing anything that conflicts

Prime Minister Edi Rama is conducting a press conference in Brussels together with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic and the President of the European Committee for Economic and Social Affairs, Oliver Ropke.

While talking about the agreement for immigrants with Italy, the head of the government Rama said that Albania is not doing anything that contradicts the position of the EU but, according to him, it is actually behaving like a member country of the European Union.

He adds that all the politics that is produced from this issue does not deal with the cause, but with the symptoms.

"I don't see how what we are doing with Italy contradicts the EU's position on migration, it is the opposite, I would say, what we are doing with Italy, as a non-member state, is what a member state should do. We are behaving like an EU member country and we are accepting that another EU member country shares with us the issue of responsibility and shares with us in the issue when illegal migration has become food for the general policy. These debates are fodder for the next election and beyond, but this cannot be the one-sided answer to how this situation should be handled. All the policy that is produced from this issue does not deal with the cause, but with the symptoms, the situation in the near future may get out of control. S

albania has no power here, what gives a solution, but we are modest contributors and we stand side by side with a country that has a special meaning for us, which is Italy. We are not bound by any agreement or commitment to engage in what you call dirty work. It is a challenging job ," Rama said during his speech.
