Report on the general expected to succeed Yuri Kim is published...
A few days after US President Donald Trump nominated Eric P. Wendt as ambassador to Tirana, the State Department has sent the Senate Foreign Relations Committee a report on the candidate's profile and experience.
The US Embassy in Albania has been without an ambassador-designate for about three years, and Wendt is expected to succeed Yuri Kim in this position. Sending the report to the Senate and publishing it on the official website of the State Department constitutes a further step in the process of his confirmation. This is because he will most likely be summoned to a hearing session within a few days.
According to the document, retired General Eric Wendt currently serves as a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he teaches command and leadership. During his more than 34-year military career, he has held senior leadership positions and commanded structures with thousands of military and civilian personnel.
Internationally, Wendt has served as Commander of NATO Special Operations Headquarters Europe, leading the alliance's special forces, including units from Albania. He has also had direct engagements on the ground, working with Albanian defense leaders and troops.
Previously, he also served in Afghanistan as deputy regional commander, where he also supervised Albanian troops, as well as in the US Department of State, at the US Embassy in Jerusalem, where he led an eight-nation coalition as Security Coordinator.
The report emphasizes that his experience in managing multinational structures and knowledge of the European region make him qualified for the position of ambassador to Albania.
Wendt is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey. He is fluent in Arabic and Korean and has received several high honors, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and State Department awards.
After this action, he is expected to appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and if he gains the confidence of the senators, the candidacy will go to a vote.

Duhet diplomat karriere. Wendt mund të ketë njëmijë merita, por diplomat nuk është dhe nuk duhet ta pranonte emërimin.
Military people are more diplomats and politicians, long viewers and stronger characters. They started their careers from zero, went through harsh life to serve their country with devotion. Diplomats, mummy’s boys, are good just for mundane saloons and their job is messengers. In this delicate situation where, war is knocking all doors, a military general is the best choice.
