The US puts foreign investments under scrutiny...
The US Embassy in Tirana has sent another clear message to the government to be careful with foreign companies investing in the country. Many concessions have been received by Chinese companies and other countries, which are seen as unfriendly by the Americans.
A few days ago, US envoy Nancy VanHorn had a meeting with Minister Delina Ibrahimaj, where it was announced that the US will increase controls over concessions in the country, but also foreign investments in general.
In a response to Top Channel, the US Embassy explains that the investment screening mechanism is a legal practice that appears to purge harmful investment requests, seeking to protect Albania's national security.
" An investment screening mechanism is a legal tool that allows governments to review foreign investments to ensure that they do not pose risks to national security. Such a mechanism would protect Albania's critical sectors from malicious actors and support an open and transparent investment environment that is fair and predictable for U.S. and other companies, strengthening Albania's role as a trusted partner in the global economy ," the embassy announced.
But it seems that the Americans are putting a limit on what Rama has said, when it comes to Chinese investments, but also Russian ones.
Currently, there are no Russian companies in our country, but the possibility that Russian capital is secretly part of legal offshore foreign companies such as ONE Albania, Raiffeisen Bank, etc. cannot be ruled out.

The US has filed the fact that Edi Rama approved a 10-year PPP for the collection of tax liabilities, with a profit of 100 million Euros, which he gave to the Chinese company "M.POS Limited", in partnership with Olsi Rama and Endri Meksi, but canceled it after the US "pulled his ear".
The US has filed a case where Edi Rama approved the construction of an energy park on over 500 hectares of state-owned land in Spitalë, signing a contract with the Chinese mafia company "Zheijang Haiteng Investment Co.Ltd", and even sent Olsi Rama to China in advance to close the deal.
The US has also documented the fact that during the "Covid 19" pandemic, Edi Rama made deals and illegally obtained the Chinese "Sinovax" vaccines, but also Russian vaccines through the United Arab Emirates, being the only NATO member country that signed contracts with Russian-Chinese companies. /Pamphlet
