Yesterday, the PD Presidency meeting degenerated into tension, verbal violence, insults and threats.
The supporters of Lulzim Basha and the heads of the branches have entered the presidency meeting several times, exerting pressure and even threatening the deputies who supported Bardhi's platform.
Gazmend Bardhit said that the most urgent thing is the unification of the democrats and the start of the elections from the base, not considering the election of the new chairman of the party as urgent.
Verbal violence and threats inside the meeting forced Gazment Bardhi to leave together with deputy Dashnor Sula, leaving the direction of the presidency in the middle.
While Jorida Tabaku, disappointed by the threats and the unethical and unifying language at the meeting, eventually gave up the position of vice president of the Democratic Party.
But the saga of threats did not end there. The heads of the branches and supporters of Basha did not spare the deputies who rejected the election of the chairman of the party without the unification of the democrats at the base.
But the leadership meeting continued with leaks in the ranks of the Democrats, after Jorida Tabaku, Flamur Hoxha also resigned as organizational secretary.
The chairman of the parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi reacted to the verbal violence, pressure and blackmail against the deputies of the Democratic Party through a statement. He described the behavior of the military group as "blows up coexistence within the Democratic Party and finally crushes citizens' trust in this political force".
In the Presidency meeting that lasted nearly 10 hours and ended in the early hours of the morning, the Presidency decided that on July 29 the elections for the new chairman of the Democratic Party will be held. The decision was taken with 17 votes in favor, 2 votes against and 3 abstentions.
