DP MP Bledjon Nallbati, who is running in the Korça District in the May 11 elections, in the 'Greater Albania Alliance' coalition, was involved in an incident with a truck driver on Saturday evening.
The police have accompanied Nallbat and his brother, as well as the truck driver, to clarify the incident, and then it was decided to detain the MP's brother. A video that circulated online shows the moment when Nallbat and his brother clash with the truck driver, while according to them, the cause of the conflict was the speed at which the heavy-duty vehicle was moving, claiming that it could have hit the car in which the MP was moving.
In a reaction to News24, Nallbati clarified the circumstances of the incident, saying that he tried several times to avoid the collision, but the emotions and behavior of the truck driver took their toll.
He has invited the Special Prosecution Office to obtain the full footage and see what happened clearly.
" Yesterday, at around 9:00 PM, an incident occurred involving me, my brother and a heavy-duty vehicle. I accept with full responsibility that I should have remained cautious towards these types of provocations, however, I am a human being before I am a politician. We condemn any form of violence, verbal or physical, regardless of whether we were involved in an incident against our will. The truth is transformed according to the public interest of the moment. You have seen partial, incomplete videos.
It is not true that my brother or I blocked the truck's path. We were traveling from Kapshtica to the city, and a pothole opened up at the roundabout, which these authorities who are misinforming the event are not repairing. My vehicle slowed down, while the truck was behind us at speed and we could have had an accident. In these conditions, we stopped, and my brother, who was the driver, got out, and I followed him.
I have tried many times to avoid this conflict, even though I was under the emotions of a possible and dangerous collision. The driver, without a doubt, also had an inappropriate reaction, cursing me and my brother. Emotion sometimes prevails over reason, but I am human. I do not belong to the race of people like Niko Peleshi and others who have dealt with this issue.
These people are not violated in their dignity and that of their families, the seat of power is enough to steal citizens' money. I invite SPAK to obtain other footage to see what happened clearly. We called the police station to clarify an event that could have had consequences, but also for the conflict.
The police, instead of clarifying the situation – even though my brother and the driver got together and declared that it was a momentary conflict and misunderstanding, and even signed statements that they had no problem with each other – acted on the personal orders of Niko Peleshi, who communicated with the leaders of the Korça district police. What did Peleshi communicate with the director of the Police about?
What was the reason that this incident was forcibly transferred to the Korça police station, and with the presence of the police director himself, a falsified charge was filed? In the footage, even though the vehicles stopped, the criminal offense exists when you leave the scene. How could the vehicle leave when there was a possible accident and we had called the police?
"The other vehicles continued to pass. All three accusations do not stand. I have information that you should verify and I also invite SPAK: yesterday, the director of the Police was called and suspended the chief of the police station and the chief of crimes ," he said.
