Minister Delina Ibrahimaj came out today after the government meeting and announced that the oil and hydrocarbons board has been abolished. The Transparency Board was established on 12 March 2022 following the fuel crisis from the war in Ukraine.
Another important decision, with the beginning of the crisis, established a transparency board for price control. Since then, prices have fluctuated greatly. We decided to define some profit margins in order to limit the effect of hydrocarbon speculation and to limit abuses. Based on the decision of the Constitutional Court that left it in force, we decided to abolish the hydrocarbons board and the special situation in this market ," says Ibrahimaj.
The Transparency Board was established with the aim of avoiding abuses by fuel trading companies. It was formed at a time when, as a result of the war in Ukraine, 1 liter of diesel cost around 300 ALL. While the opposition has attacked it as a clientelistic Board, the majority has described it as the only mechanism to keep prices under control.
