Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has reacted to the situation aggravated by the fires in Albania.
The situation was declared critical as the size of the fire was frightening. The fires also threatened cities, favored by the wind.
Jorida Tabaku calls for immediate response as the situation is critical in several cities where there are currently 37 fire outbreaks in the country, while the mass evacuation of residents in Delvina has begun.
She emphasizes that propaganda and government statements after every fire are not enough, as a serious strategy, sustainable investments, and an administration that works for citizens, not for clientelistic tenders, are needed.
"This year, Albania has faced a heavy toll from fires: after Borsh, Kanina, Vlora, now also Gramsh and Tirana. It is painful to see that, in the face of such disasters, the state remains powerless, without the necessary means and infrastructure to cope with them.
Every summer, after every tragedy, we hear the same promises to purchase helicopters and invest in equipment. But year after year, they remain just words, while the flames consume forests, homes and people's lives. The management of this tourist season has shown that, from tourism to emergencies, a serious and functional strategy is missing.
The employees who fight the fire deserve special recognition: in extreme conditions and scorching temperatures, they work with dedication on the front line of danger. But their sacrifice cannot replace the responsibility of the state. ", writes Tabaku.
