Enkelejd Alibeaj has explained the reasons why he did not participate in the protest called by Sali Berisha on Saturday. He described it not as a civic protest, but as a pure party rally.
Alibeaj said that the activity showed one clear element: the Democratic Party remains a major financial force.
According to him, the protest was politically unbelievable, as two days earlier the same political force had voted with the majority on several key decisions, including electoral reform and Albania's representation on the Peace Board.
"How can you demand the overthrow of the prime minister when a few days ago you voted with him?" Alibeaj asked on "A2 CNN".
He mocked the opposition's repeated promises about Rama's "last mile", saying that according to these promises, the prime minister has "fallen" several times since 2022.
Alibeaj emphasized that mass protests do not bring down the government and that the latter had neither public nor international impact.
According to him, the protest served more to consolidate Berisha's authority within the DP and to neutralize critical internal movements.
