After the failure of yesterday's session, the trial of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who is under investigation for passive corruption and money laundering for the privatization of the former Partizani complex, is being held today. In relation to this charge, Berisha was left in the "Compulsion to Appear" measure.
It is learned that the session for the former prime minister is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Yesterday, Berisha had to be introduced to the security measure, but his lawyers went with the script. They demanded the dismissal of the judge, Irena Gjoka, as they claim that she violated the Constitution. According to them, Berisha has parliamentary immunity and cannot have a security measure.
They have also asked to get acquainted with the acts of the file. Initially, the session was postponed to 6:00 p.m., but later it was decided to be held today at 2:30 p.m., where it will be seen if the request for the dismissal of the judge will be accepted.
The lawyer himself, Genc Gjokutaj informed that they have filed a lawsuit against her in SPAK for abuse of office.
"Today, a complaint was made to SPAK against the judge for the criminal offense of abuse of office. Since the decision contradicts the Constitution. We have requested the dismissal of the judge, Irena Gjoka, and the trial has been interrupted to examine this request. We are waiting for the decision on the review of the request for her exclusion. We are for an orderly process and effective protection. We will wait for the court's decision", said lawyer Gjokutaj.
Meanwhile, today at 12:00, Berisha has announced the meeting of the Presidency of the DP, where it is said that the latest political developments will be discussed.
"On Wednesday at 12.00 in the premises of the DP headquarters, the meeting of the DP Presidency will take place with the following agenda: 1- Discussions about the latest political developments. 2-Different ...", the announcement states.
While after the Presidency, Berisha is expected to convene the National Council on Friday in order to discuss the political situation in the country and the steps to be taken in the future.
"Dear members of the National Council, on Friday dt. On October 27, at 18.00 at the DP headquarters, we will meet to discuss the political situation and the steps we will take in the future", the announcement states.
After the sabotage of yesterday's session, Berisha chose to hold a conference with journalists at the time set by GJKKO for questioning the former prime minister regarding the privatization of the former Partizani sports complex.
Berisha describes the indictment as political, since according to him, the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, is behind the file of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
"This is a shameful indictment, against a reform that still exists today. Bonds are used as an obligation to citizens, after an entire economy was privatized and they were left empty-handed. The problem is a genuine political indictment of the reforms. PD does not give up anything from its program. I feel honored for every act and law he has undertaken. To find judges who analyze the laws and allow themselves to slander, this only happens in mythology, but this does not discourage us", said Berisha.
