The Democratic Party has accused the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK), regarding the launch of verifications for the Democrats' lobbying contract in the US, of being used by Prime Minister Edi Rama for political purposes.
The DP has emphasized that its contract with a lawyer for former US President Donald Trump was registered according to the laws of both countries and that there is no violation, while adding that the only concern about this contract is that of Rama and his tools.
"The Democratic Party is transparent about the contract with President Trump's lawyer, which was signed in full compliance with the laws of both countries and filed with FARA according to every rule! The Democratic Party once again finds the opportunity to thank the patriots of the Albanian-American community for their generosity and unsparing assistance in dismantling the Edi Rama regime ," the statement said.
According to the DP, Prime Minister Edi Rama is using SPAK as a tool to cover up his scandals, such as the McGonigal affair, and collaboration with gangs to manipulate the upcoming parliamentary elections on May 11, 2025.
The opposition further states that drug gangs in Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan and Shkodër, supported by the government and the "narcopolice", are working to distort the will of the voters, as is alleged to have happened in the cases of files 339 and 184.
" After using SPAK for years as a cover for the manhole of his scandal with McGonigal, today Rama has once again awakened from his sleep those who have turned a blind eye as the drug cartels in Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan and Shkodër have become more involved than ever in deforming the will of the voters, just as they turned a blind eye to the audios of files 339 and 184! Just as they turned a blind eye to the 150 million euros stolen from the incinerators, from which SPAK has not only not recovered a single penny, but is silent as a blade of grass about where 150 million euros ended up for a work that does not exist. Apparently, the DP's contract with President Trump's lawyer has not only scared Rama, but also his tools," the DP statement says.
The DP further thanks the Albanian-American community for its financial and political support, describing the diaspora as a key force in strengthening the party.
" Today the Democratic Party, thanks to the diaspora, is stronger than ever! Rama's days are numbered! Victory is near, " the statement says.
