Democrat Ilir Alimehmeti has revealed that Socialist councilors in the Tirana Municipality have been threatened by Prime Minister Edi Rama to vote to dismiss Erion Veliaj from office.
According to him, Rama called the advisors to a meeting and threatened and terrorized them by saying: "I told him (Veliaj) that you will hang yourself from a tree, all of you will hang yourself from the trees of the Orbital Forest."
Invited to the show "Oponencë" on News24, Alimehmeti said that he learned this from the socialist advisors themselves in the Municipality of Tirana.
"We are making an effort to bring the opposition together, we have achieved this in the Municipal Council, we are making it clear that we are convergent. The point is that the candidate is accepted consensually. Don't you know that even within the SP there are factions, terrible ones. Do you know that the SP advisors were called by Edi Rama and threatened. I will tell you what happened. He said: "I told him (Veliaj) that you will hang yourself from a tree, all of you will hang yourself from the trees of the Orbital Forest", this is the reality, they were terrorized, you will vote for the Sezba to dismiss Veliaj.
"We know this from the SP Councilors, we are in the same room, we talk and communicate. The SP, which has hundreds of thousands of voters, has men and women with integrity and goes and appoints someone who is directly for SPAK, in a second ," he said.
