Prime Minister Edi Rama leaves tomorrow for Brussels, where he will meet with the president of the EU Council, Charles Michel.
Two days ago at a press conference, as Rama demanded the release of 3 Kosovo policemen who are being held prisoner in Serbia, he also announced that he had sent a letter to Macron and Scholz asking them to intervene to make it possible implementation of the Franco-German plan for Kosovo.
The Franco-German plan was the only proposal drawn up by two of the European leaders, Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz, that was accepted even when the two sides did not have any agreement. According to Rama, the Franco-German plan is the basis for achieving bilateral relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
During his speech where he emphasized that there will be no progress in meetings or agreements within the framework of Open Balkan as long as Serbia does not release the 3 police officers from Kosovo, Rama again accused Albin Kurti of jeopardizing Kosovo's relations with the Euro-Atlantic community. According to him, the relations Kurti's relations with the EU and the USA are at their worst as planned visits are being turned back and no door is being opened.
During the conference, Rama emphasized that relations return to point 0 and that the only communication at any level with Serbia will be for the release of the three policemen. Prime Minister Rama emphasized that it is not about banning trade or trucks, but about the communication relationship between the two states.
"This is not about the breakdown of diplomatic relations, but relations that return to a point 0, there are no relations here. Any communication with Serbia will be 'release the 3 policemen'. If they will not be released in 1 year, 2, 3 years, this relationship will not be. I do not mean stopping the truck", said Rama.
Demanding the release of 3 Kosovo policemen, Prime Minister Rama called the holding of 3 officers hostage as unjustifiable and unacceptable and further underlined that this is a state deviation on the part of Serbia. He added that without releasing the three operatives, one cannot talk about an escalation of the situation between Kosovo and Serbia.
"3 people who have not committed any crime are being held hostage. This shows that Serbia should engage more seriously. This is not because there are three Albanian policemen, but there are three people who are being held hostage there by a state", said Rama.
