The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Jonila Godole, spoke about the tensions that occurred between the deputies yesterday after the discussions on the election of the new leader of the party.
Invited to 'News24', Godole said that PD needs a new leadership, but before holding the voting process, an in-depth analysis is needed for the party to turn into a winning force.
"I voted against, I presented my own, simple platform to start the discussion in the group. And then a common language was found. My thesis has been; without an in-depth analysis with internal and external experts on how to turn DP into a winning force. So I was looking for the opening of the party, especially for the leadership. PD needs new leadership", said Godole.
On the other hand, the member of the Presidency of the DP Gentian Gaba said that during yesterday's meeting they discussed the ways in which the renewal process of the DP will start, adding that there is no more time for analysis.
"We have analyzed ourselves in the last two years. We seek to give hope to modernization. For a year and a half, it has been discussed. In eight hours of discussion, an opinion was formed on how we should enter into a process of renewal of the DP. Edi Rama has started the campaign, Vangjush Dako is in prison and we still deal with each other. The analysis has been done continuously, since 2021 after the elections and it has certainly changed us", said Gaba, among other things.
