The former prime minister, Sali Berisha, during his speech from the balcony of the apartment where he is under "house arrest", said that February 20 is the day of all Albanians who vow to come out of this destruction for the nation.
He also accused the government of depopulating and destroying the country and called on citizens to join the February 20 protest to overthrow what he calls a dictatorial regime.
" For you, for us, for every Albanian wherever he is, in Albania, emigration and diaspora. February 20 more than anything else is the day of our dignity. Today we are the most despised people of the Balkans, Europe and beyond. Today we are the most trampled people. The regime that rules Albania controls our will and vote. It destroys every dream, possibility and alternative of change. Like no other nation we experience a mobocracy, a gang dictatorship. February 20 is the day to take Albania into our hands, it is the day to stand up for ourselves, it is the day to put our dignity on a pedestal, it is the day to separate forever from the tyrants who despise and kick our dignity and being. Friends! We are the most despised people.
We are the most ignored people because all of us here and wherever we are, more than half of our acquaintances are no longer in Albania. They left a blessed land because Edi Rama and his clique, his criminal organization, his criminal rebirth turned Albania, their land into a cursed land. There are many today who call our nation, a dying nation, a dying nation, a nation that is gradually dying. And these are not enemies of Albania, but observers, contemplators. Unfortunately, Albanians themselves are like that. We must never accept this national catastrophe.
We must not accept this destructive process on our national being. February 20 is the day, "men, let's save Albania". February 20 is the day to face the worst the nation has known in history. February 20 is the day of courage, so it is the day on which we should invite over 1 million Albanians who left Albania driven out by the conditions of this regime. February 20 is the day of all Albanians who vow to come out of this destruction, like no other war, for the nation," said Berisha.
