Today, the leader of the Russian opposition, Alexei Navalny, died in prison.
Regarding this event, the former prime minister, Sali Berisha, also reacted, who among other things says that Navalny was a freedom fighter, a colossus who never bowed down, at any moment, did not compromise and remained loyal to the truth , until the last breath.
Berisha emphasizes that this should be an alarm bell for the potential of evil that leaders similar to Putin in the Balkans, Europe and the world have at their core.
" Dear friends, I was saddened to read the news of the sudden death of the opposition leader, Navalny, the strongest and most courageous critical voice against Vladimir Putin and his authoritarian regime. After poisoning him with Novichok in 2020 and imprisoning him, upon his return his from Germany where his life was saved Alexei Navalny knew long isolations and inhumane treatment by Putin's regime which cannot tolerate political opponents, and even how to eliminate them to escape from him.
His untimely and forewarned death, his difficult journey, imprisonment and inhuman denigration, shows the true face and the danger that authoritarian regimes and leaders like Vladimir Putin carry, but above all shows the priceless values of freedom fighters. Alexei Navalny was like that, a freedom fighter, a colossus who never bowed, at any moment, did not compromise and stayed true to the truth, until his last breath.
Let this be a wake-up call about the potential for evil that Putin-like leaders in the Balkans, Europe and the world have at their core. My condolences go to the family of Alexei Navalny, his relatives and condemning with the greatest force all the inhumane attitudes of Putin towards him, I call on all UN bodies and international institutions to investigate the causes that led to towards his death and to punish the perpetrators and sponsors of his mysterious death.
