
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has arrived in Tirana, where she started her tour of the countries of the Western Balkans today.
Von der Leyen was received at the premises of the Prime Minister, by the head of the government Edi Rama.
The visit is part of the tour of the Western Balkans with a focus on the EU package for growth and reforms in the region, which includes financial assistance of 6 billion euros for these countries.
According to the official agenda published by the Prime Minister, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
After the meeting, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will hold a joint press conference. Around 17:00, Rama and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will also participate in the opening ceremony of the College of Europe Campus.
This is the first campus that opens its doors outside of a European Union country. The campus of the College of Europe in Tirana will offer an academic program with European standards for students and professionals from Albania, the Western Balkans region, the European Union and beyond and will open the cycle of studies starting this academic year.
Von der Leyen's agenda continues on Thursday with a meeting with President Bajram Begaj at 10:00. Afterwards, the President of the European Commission leaves Tirana to continue her Balkan tour in the other 5 countries of the Western Balkans.
