The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during a press conference commented on the situation within the DP and the expulsions from the party, referring to recent cases in Durrës and beyond.
He explained that only one person has been expelled so far, for whom, according to him, there were clear motives as he had collaborated with political opponents during the elections. Regarding the other cases, Berisha stressed that the party has internal mechanisms for reviewing complaints and that decision-making is not personal.
"Only one of them has been expelled and there are clear motives for that. He has worked with opponents, not to mention other things. This party has a court and he can file a complaint. Berisha is not the party's judge. Yes, Sali Berisha has promised in time that analyses will be conducted, he has promised that from these analyses, responsibility will be drawn. He is campaigning and calling on the day before the vote to vote for Tom Doshi's candidate. I think that is the least I can say that he has anything in common with the DP. He has his own investment and it is misused, those people who are sold for rent, rent themselves out, that's all. They have made a choice, the party is an institution, which has all the forums and whoever has complaints and remarks has the right to complain," he said.
Berisha also stressed that his stance is clear towards those who collaborate with political opponents.
"But absolutely those who have worked with opponents will have no place in the party."
He described these individuals as people who are "sold" or "rented" to political opponents, adding that after such an election they cannot seek re-entry into the party.
"They are taking on a shameful mission, it is disgusting. You did it, you live with it, okay, I don't know anything... you made your decision and I respect everyone's decision, you went and campaigned for the opposing candidate and now you want to sell yourself to me because you are... because the lease period is over, no!. Now you are asking them to end the sale with the lease. These are interventions made by Edi Rama, and by those who become Edi Rama's lolo. I have always said that those who have worked with the opponent will get what they deserve, an analysis will be done, there are up to 15, the analysis continues", said Berisha.
Meanwhile, the head of the DP advisors' group in Durrës, Dritan Burgija, was at the blue headquarters two days ago, where he demanded a confrontation with Berisha regarding his expulsion.
