The former Minister of the Interior Bledi Çuçi is today giving his testimony at the Prosecutor's Office of Berat regarding the theft of scrap metal at the Police Mechanical Plant.
He was summoned by the Prosecutor's Office of Berat as a person in the know to give explanations regarding the theft of a significant amount of metals in the Poliçan Mechanical Plant, while a criminal proceeding was registered for the case in 2022, for abuse of duty.
It is learned that Çuçi has been identified in conversations with the head of the Poliçan Mechanical Plant Erion Zylyftari, who was also the head of the SP in Poliçan.
It is about more than 50 tons of metal in the Mechanical Combine of Poliçan, where considerable damage was caused, say sources from the prosecution body. In the meantime, audits about the economic damage have also been made, for which the Ministry of Defense has been informed.
Since the file also includes the names of senior officials, depending on the investigations, a decision will be made as to whether or not it will be handed over to SPAK. Everything started at the end of December 2020 when the combine was closed, while Economic Crime had launched an in-depth investigation into the disappearance of about 50 tons of brass.
