During the parliamentary session where the annual report presented by the Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, is being debated, socialist MP Damin Gjiknuri focused on the serious incident that occurred at the Court of Appeal in Tirana, where Judge Astrit Kalaja was executed in the courtroom.
Gjiknuri said that the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja showed the public's perception of the justice system, as there was a flood of encouraging comments about the killer on social media.
"This serious event was strongly condemned by all actors in Albanian society, but sadly, an exaltation was observed by a good part of society, expressed in public comments and social networks, where the crime was glorified. It is an alarm bell, because trust in justice is even lower. This becomes even more significant after the euphoria and enthusiasm that the justice reform revived 9 years ago," said Gjiknuri.
The socialist MP further praised SPAK as one of the important links in criminal prosecutions.
"I cannot fail to mention the role of SPAK, an institution that is being consolidated more and more every day. The fact that we have numerous strikes against criminal groups, with international reach, is indicative. SPAK has become the headline of the fight against corruption, striking at every level," said Gjinkuri.
