Ilir Alimehmeti, who is running for MP on the open list of the 'Greater Albania Alliance' in the Tirana District, listed the strongest weapons of the opposition in these elections against the SP, which is seeking a fourth mandate in government on May 11.
He also commented on the challenges the opposition will face in gaining the trust of skeptics and achieving concrete results in the upcoming elections.
In an interview for Vizion+, Alimehmeti states that we have clear pro-family policies and not parent 1, parent 2 type policies. "We are clear that if we have a person who is economically supported, he can raise a family, he can support the elderly. With every mandate that Rama has won, the group of emigrants who have gone abroad has grown," he emphasized.
The Democratic Party (DP) today presented the slogan and logo for the electoral campaign, "Great Albania"; does this slogan borrowed from the Americans and Trump's campaign, "Make America Great Again," work in Albania?
Alimehmeti: We need to see this slogan as it can be. But how can we describe it, it is that an Albanian lives in Albania with dignity, with his head held high, leads a dignified life and that Albania does not look down on other countries in the region, but that we are leaders. The Albanian has his own dignified place within the Balkans.
What is the opposition's strongest weapon in this election campaign, facing a prime minister who has won 3 terms?
Alimehmeti: You know very well how the past elections went and what relations there are with the OSCE/ODIHR. We know how it works, we have clear pro-family policies and not parent 1, parent 2 policies. We are clear that if we have a person who is economically supported, he can raise a family, he can support the elderly. Therefore, with every mandate that Rama has won, the group of emigrants who have gone abroad has increased.
What message will you send to skeptics who say that the DP does not receive mandates beyond the closed list? You yourself are running on the open list in Tirana.
Alimehmeti : Skeptics will get the answer on May 11. I will invite them to think about themselves first. Are they where your family is or have they left, have they fled Albania. How are you economically? Are you robbed or are you enriched? These are the questions Albanians should ask each other. If the SP wins these elections, because it does not win, it takes, then this country has no hope. We will vote for the Democratic Party on May 11.
The group of DP advisors in the Municipality of Tirana sent a letter to the Congress of Local Authorities in the Council of Europe, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of violating the independence of local government with interventions in the Municipality of Tirana. What are the violations that you have found?
Alimehmeti: It is a major unconstitutionality. The Prime Minister has no right to interfere in local government. They are independent by the Constitution. This is a direct violation of the Prime Minister. And the letter from Anduela Ristan, where was it signed? Where is the document?
