Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa explained from the Assembly podium the reasons for the vote against the change in the agenda, accusing the majority of using Parliament to approve initiatives that, according to her, do not serve the citizens.
In her speech, Zhupa stated that the opposition opposes an Assembly that, according to her, functions as "Rama's notary" and adopts laws in the interest of oligarchs, ignoring the public interest and violating the law.
The Democratic MP also focused on the citizens' protest in front of the Parliament, emphasizing that they have been protesting for 51 days and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. According to her, the Parliament should listen to the voices of the protesters and discuss issues that directly affect the citizens.
Zhupa also accused the majority of having adopted a series of laws in favor of investors, while calling on MPs to show courage and vote against changing the agenda.
"We are against turning the Assembly into Rama's notary. We are against this parliament being only for the interest of the oligarchs, those who have concreted the country and violated the laws. Those citizens have been protesting for 51 days, they want Rama's resignation. Let us hear their voice. You have made a series of other laws that you violate for investors. We are against this Assembly being a puppet assembly, we want to talk and discuss the interests of the citizens. You must have the courage and vote against it!", said Zhupa.
