The Self-Determination Movement (LVV) has proposed increasing the number of ministries in the Kosovo Government, from 15 to 19. The proposal has been presented to the Assembly and envisages dividing several existing ministries into two, with the aim of reorganizing and better functioning of the executive branch.

The new ministerial structure was unveiled on two occasions last year. First in October, when Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti was mandated as prime minister, and then a month later, when LVV deputy leader Glauk Konjufca sought the confidence of MPs to lead the government.

Among the proposed changes is the formation of the Ministry of Family and Social Welfare, as well as the creation of the Ministry of Public Administration and Digitalization. It is also envisaged that the Ministry of European Integration will join the Ministry of Trade and Industry, expanding the competencies of this department.

According to Vetëvendosje, the increase in the number of ministries aims to more efficiently address government priorities and more clearly divide institutional responsibilities. However, this proposal is expected to be further discussed in the Assembly and has sparked political debate regarding the costs and the need for an expansion of the government cabinet.
