Abdixhiku: LDK Assembly decides on the political fate of the party

Members of the Assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) are meeting on Saturday, at the invitation of Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku, following the results of the December 28 snap parliamentary elections.

In this electoral process, the LDK won 13.24 percent of the vote – the second worst result since the post-war period.

Abdixhiku said that he has offered his resignation and now the decision is up to the Assembly whether to accept it or not.

However, some party figures have called for his irrevocable resignation.

Among them is Hykmete Bajrami, who has irrevocably resigned from the position of party vice president and has requested the same from Abdixhiku.

LDK Chairman Abdixhiku said shortly before the start of the Assembly's proceedings that this is the highest body of the party and consequently it decides on everything.

"I assure all LDK members that from this debate we will emerge even more unified, even stronger, and more prepared for the better future that awaits us. With a majority of votes, we determine our political destiny," said Abdixhiku.
