Albin Kurti gives the alarm: The threats from Belgrade are a reality, they do
Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in a panel organized by 'The Economist' in Greece, where he stated that there should be a union against the destabilizing elements that threaten democracy in the region.

Kurti said that "democracy is a concrete reality for Kosovo, but so are the threats posed by autocracies, mainly Serbia, obviously helped by its alliance with Putin".

He added that beyond historical issues, the northern region of Kosovo has been used as a center for drug trafficking, arms smuggling and the production of cryptocurrencies.

Kurti has also sounded the alarm about Serbia's aggression and constant threats. While asking for a coalition of democratic states against the autocracy, Kurti said that in the case of Kosovo and Serbia, the agreements reached this year should be implemented.

"I offered to sign it in Brussels and then in Ohrid, but Belgrade doesn't want it because the content is de facto recognition", Kurti said, adding that this agreement was modeled by "two Germanys".

"What we lack is implementation. In the history of agreements, we have over 40 agreements, but we are stuck in implementation. They are like two different planets. We must bring them to the same continent, to Europe. Let's quickly implement what we have agreed and I am still ready to sign whatever I say yes. It was not the same case with the other side and then the difficulties happened", said Kurti in the panel.

Kurti has said that the Balkan states that want to join the European Union should be helped by the EU for faster union.

He said that the EU should be reformed internally and at the same time expand. Another important point for security, he praised the strengthening of the transatlantic bridge.

He also spoke about Serbia's threats, for which he said that numerous testimonies have already been provided that show the involvement as a state in the attack on the Kosovo Police on September 24.
