The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the de-escalation of the situation in the north cannot be solved with pressure and mention of consequences. He admitted that there are challenges in the discussions with the emissaries Lajçak and Escobar, but he expressed his conviction that they will be able to clarify all the ambiguities, while adding that he has not received any ultimatum from them to resolve the situation in the north.
Kurti, after participating in a judo activity in Mitrovica, told the media that he has offered the EU special representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, and the US emissary for the Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, the safe way to have a stable exit from the crisis in the north of Kosovo.
He said that he is in favor of holding early elections in the north, but on the condition that first there is rule of law there and then that the elections are free and democratic.
Kurti insisted that the bilateral relations between Kosovo and the European Union and the USA are excellent.
He added that when the European and American emissaries come to Kosovo for discussions, they are in the capacity of mediators of the dialogue and there the EU and the USA are not in question, but the relationship between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to Kurt, the country is in this situation because of the abandonment of the Serbian List of institutions. He said that the international community has failed to guarantee the participation of the Serbian List in the April 23 elections, even though they had promised him after the signing of the Ohrid agreement.
On the other hand, Kurti said that the Government of Kosovo still does not have a written draft for the Association's statute, even though the US emissary for the Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, said that the executive has the draft for the Association ready but is keeping it hidden.
During this week, the EU's special representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, and the emissary of the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, were in Kosovo, who presented three demands for Kosovo, the de-escalation of the situation in the north, the organization of new elections in the northern municipalities as soon as possible. quickly and return to dialogue./ KosovaPress
