Shala said that the border police tried to stop a car with suspected smuggled goods, while the person in question, a Kosovo Serb, did not obey the police's orders.
The person tried to hit the police officers with a car, who responded with a gun in self-defense.
After the exchange of fire, the person was arrested and the situation is currently normal.
"The situation happened during a routine check that the Rapid Intervention Forces of the Kosovo border did, to check a person who was suspected of having criminal items in his car to smuggle.
In order to bring the situation under control and to find the smuggled items, the Kosovo Police signaled the car to stop.
The person in question, known to the security bodies of Kosovo, did not obey the official orders and tried to hit the officers with a car.
In self-defense, the police officers took out their guns and shot at the car to stop and arrest the person in question and bring him before the judicial authorities. The situation is under control and is progressing with increased normalcy", said Shala.
