Kosovo was shocked by a serious event where 18-year-old Lulzim Fejzullahu lost his life.
He was first hit by a car and hit with hard tools, iron rods by two minors, Artiol Abdullahu and Elton Kadriu, and then died in the hospital.
The media in Kosovo report that the two perpetrators are the sons of two businessmen in Podujevë. Since they are minors, the two perpetrators are not expected to be sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.
This has caused strong reactions in Kosovo.
The well-known lawyer Tome Gashi is among those who have proposed that the death penalty be imposed for such serious crimes. In an interview for "5Pyetjet.al", the lawyer lists the reasons that push him towards this extreme proposal.
"He was an 18-year-old young man, it is suspected that two young men killed him with iron bars. It is suspected that everything was prepared after a conflict over the queue at the barbershop. It was like in action movies this time. Or if a group of Colombian assassins organized it.
I wrote an article saying in general that the death penalty should be reinstated for the most serious murders. It is not normal for someone to take someone's life and then have the opportunity to live another life after serving their sentence.
So the death penalty I think can be a fear that someone will not decide to take someone's life, since they can also be killed by the state. We are dealing with drastic proposals. Following the practice of the USA or others, execution has been allowed for such serious cases," said the lawyer in an interview with the media.
