A woman lost her life today as a result of an avalanche at the Ski Center in Brezovica, in the south of Kosovo.
The head of the Police for the Ferizaj region, Kanun Veseli, announced that the victim was a 54-year-old foreign citizen.
"It is suspected that the cause of this incident was the slide of a snow avalanche. Police teams and search and rescue teams are there and for other information we will notify you in time", said Veseli.
The Kosovo Mountain Search and Rescue Service said that on Tuesday afternoon a call for help had arrived in the part called "Eagle's Nest" in the ski center, which is known as a dangerous area from the detachment of snow avalanches.
The rescue teams had given the first medical aid to the victim at the scene, but they had not managed to keep him alive.
"After the evacuation of the body by the medical teams, the death of the skier, a foreign citizen, was verified", said this service.
The service called for extra care when skiing off-piste due to poor weather conditions.
