The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, spoke about the history of this commission over the years, as part of the special program "Election Marathon" on Klan Kosova.
As he says, over the last 25 years, 18 electoral processes have been held in Kosovo, 10 of which were for the Assembly of Kosovo, while the other eight were for local elections, Klankosova.tv reports.
"The history of elections in a free Kosovo began in 2000 with the organization of the first elections for Municipal Assemblies, and during this 25-year period, 10 electoral processes for the Assembly of Kosovo have been organized. This includes this electoral process of December 28."
"Then eight electoral processes for Municipal Assemblies, and six more for mayors. Local elections for mayors and Municipal Assemblies since 2007 have begun to be organized simultaneously. At the national level during this 25-year period there are 18 electoral processes, 10 for the Assembly of Kosovo and 8 more for local elections ," said Elezi.
Among other things, he announced that in 2007, three elections were held in one day.
"Some of these electoral processes have taken place on the same day. For example, in 2007, three local elections were held on the same day, for the Assembly of Kosovo, for Mayors of Municipalities and Municipal Assemblies," he said.
Among other things, Elezi also spoke about the progress of the CEC over the years.
