The Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has remembered the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku, on the anniversary of his murder in the line of duty in Banjska.
Hovenier called for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack to be held accountable.
"Today I joined the Government of Kosovo and diplomatic colleagues to honor the memory of the Kosovo policeman Afrim Bunjaku, who was killed in the line of duty during the attack in Banjska, one year ago today. The United States reiterates its call, and it is our expectation, that the perpetrators and all those involved in that terrible crime be held fully accountable," Ambassador Hovenier wrote on the X social network.
During the day, the Prime Minister of the country, Albin Kurti, together with the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xelal Svecla, visited his family.
After the visit, the heads of state paid homage in front of his grave in the Samadrexha cemetery in Vushtrri.
Also present were the Minister of Justice Albulena Haxhiu, the ambassador of America in Pristina, Jeffery Hovenier, members of the Kosovo Police, Bunjak's son and deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
