Kosovo votes tomorrow, the first regular elections since the declaration of independence...
The citizens of Kosovo will decide tomorrow who will lead them for another 4 years. These will be the 9th election since the end of the war in 1999 and the first regular elections since the declaration of independence in 2008.
Among the largest political entities competing in these elections are the Vetëvendosje Movement VV led by Albin Kurti, the Democratic League of Kosovo LDK, led by Lumir Abdixhiku, the Democratic Party of Kosovo PDK with its candidate for prime minister Bedri Hamza, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo AAK, led by Ramush Haradinaj.
The materials have been distributed to the Municipal Counting Centers and in the early hours of Sunday, they will be distributed to the voting centers, where the voting process will begin at 07:00. The number of voting centers that will open on 9 February 2025 is 941, of which 903 for regular voting with a total of 2,533 polling stations and 38 voting centers for conditional voting, one for each municipality, with a total of 56 polling stations. The number of citizens with the right to vote within Kosovo is: 1,970,944.
Unlike past elections, when the election silence in Kosovo began the day before the voting, with this year's legal changes, it will now begin one minute before the opening of the polling stations, at 07:00, and will last until their closing, at 19:00 on February 9. So, the election silence will only last during the 12 hours of voting.
Meanwhile, diaspora voting has begun today. 16 embassies and 14 consulates of Kosovo have turned into voting centers on Saturday, in which more than 20 thousand immigrants have registered to vote. According to data, diaspora voting has closed in Europe and 14 thousand refugees have voted. But the process continues in Canada, the USA, etc.
But who will win the elections? The Center for Research "Alternativa" published the latest poll a few days ago, a poll that puts the Vetëvendosje Movement in first place with 52.7 percent, followed by PDK in second place, and the third party from this poll is LDK. More specifically, PDK – 16.8%, LDK – 14.2%, AAK – Initiative, Intellectuals and Conservatives – 7.6% and Lista per Familjen – 3.5%.
Unlike other campaigns, this election has seen a lot of tension, accusations and counter-accusations. Richard Grenell, who has attacked Albin Kurti by lobbying against him, also became part of the debate. But who will be the new Prime Minister of Kosovo? He will most likely learn this tomorrow evening, as the CEC has declared that the result will be released before midnight. /Pamphlet
