The envoy of the European Union for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, will visit Belgrade today, where he will hold a meeting with the country's president, Aleksandër Vucic.
The Serbian presidency did not confirm that there will be a joint conference, but said that a statement will be sent to the media after the meeting.
Also, the topics that will be discussed, as well as the reason for the visit, have not been announced.
But the meeting is held a few days before the new regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo for the exclusion of the Serbian dinar as a usable currency for transactions in the country comes into force.
The international community has expressed concern about this decision, asking Kosovo to consult with the communities. Yesterday, QUINT requested the suspension of this decision.
While on Tuesday, Lajçak will visit Pristina, confirmed by Kosovo media sources in Brussels.
Lajçak is expected to meet with representatives of local institutions, although there is still no confirmation if a meeting will be held between him and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, RTK reported.
Meanwhile, it is known that the holding of the meeting with the deputy prime minister and the chief negotiator of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, has already been confirmed.
This is the first visit of the special envoy for dialogue this year. This visit is also taking place in the period when the dialogue process is growing.
After September 14, there were no more meetings at the highest political level within the framework of the dialogue. It was this meeting which simultaneously showed the tensions between the Prime Minister of Kosovo and Lajcak himself, whom the latter accused of having lost his neutrality.
The visits that Miroslav Lajçak will make, both in Pristina and in Belgrade, will be an opportunity to ask the parties to implement all the points of the agreement on the road to the normalization of relations, including its annex.
