The Commander of the NATO Mission in Kosovo, KFOR, Ozkan Ulutas, has stated that the military mission, in addition to having good resources, is committed to preventing any risk of escalation.
Asked if there is a real risk that Serbia will attack Kosovo militarily, as the institutional leaders in Pristina have articulated, Ulutas said that everything is being monitored.
"We constantly monitor all relevant developments that may affect security throughout Kosovo and regional stability. KFOR has good resources and was created to face all the challenges that can affect the security environment", he said in an interview for the Serbian medium based in Kosovo, Kosovo Online.
As for the plans for increasing the number of KFOR members, he said that NATO's allies and partners fully support KFOR's efforts to ensure a safe environment in Kosovo.
"We will always ensure that our mission remains well-equipped and well-placed to continue implementing its mandate as the third security responder, in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the EU Mission for the Governance of Law (EULEX)" , he said.
