Prime Minister Albin Kurti presented the program for the next governing mandate to the Assembly, listing objectives in defense, economy, foreign policy, and social issues.
He announced that the government will allocate 1 billion euros for defense over the next four years. The fund will be used to strengthen strategic alliances, increase recruitment in the Security Force and increase the number of officers. The government aims to put the ammunition factory into operation, develop the local defense industry and produce combat drones in Kosovo. According to him, these measures will increase defense capacities and increase self-sustainability in the security sector.
In the field of foreign policy, Kurti stated that the government will continue the dialogue with Serbia on the basis of the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Implementation Annex. He presented the process as a regulation of relations between two sovereign states and emphasized that the institutions will implement the Constitution and laws throughout the country's territory.
The government will continue to support the Berlin Process and the regional common market. Kurti said that regional cooperation will be based on equality and equal representation, while institutions will cooperate with parties that respect these principles.
On the economic front, he declared that during the next mandate, the Gross Domestic Product per capita will exceed 10 thousand euros for the first time.
The program also includes social measures. The government will continue policies to reduce inequality and support mothers. The “Superjob for Women” project provides for a minimum wage subsidy of 500 euros for six months for every employed woman. The executive will also provide an additional 100 euros per month on top of the basic pension for grandparents who take care of children.
After the constitution of the Assembly on Wednesday, the deputies also held a session to form the Government.
