Cracks start between Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti, the president against the
Osmani-Kurti

The divergences between Vjosa Osman and Albin Kurti deepen. After the clashes of the Kosovar Prime Minister with internationals months ago, there seemed to be some kind of change of course by the president, but today it has been openly shown that the relations between them are no longer what they used to be.

Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, sent a letter to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Kosovo, clearly underlining the commitment of Pristina to start with the formation of the association within the month of May.

But for Osman this letter was not consulted at all. It has made it clear that it does not support unilateral actions at all.

" Yesterday's letter from the Government of Kosovo sent to KIE, was not consulted and agreed with President Osmani. President Osmani only supports positions and actions previously consulted, coordinated and agreed with the institution of the Presidency as a constitutional institution with clear powers in the field of foreign policy and as a guardian of the constitutional functioning of the institutions" , stated Bekim Kupina, advisor for media of the president.

He said that this letter could have been consulted and coordinated with individuals outside the institutions, but not with the Presidency.

" Any derivative of the letter of commitment signed by the three institutions must also be coordinated and approved by these three institutions in advance. Throughout the day, President Osmani is continuing consultations with allies regarding the issue of membership in the Council of Europe, as she has done for a long time, with the aim of unblocking this process ," he continued.

He also emphasized that President Osmani will support any action towards the realization of this goal, in full accordance with state interests and the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

Minister Donika Gërvalla, in the letter addressed to the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos, has said that the Government of Kosovo is preparing a draft statute for the Association, which it has pledged to send to the Constitutional Court by the end of May.

" The letter contains the commitment that the government of the Republic of Kosovo will prepare a draft for the creation of a mechanism for self-management, coordination and cooperation of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo, which fulfills the inherited international obligations of Kosovo, meets the needs of the citizens of the community Serbs of the Republic of Kosovo, but at the same time respects the Constitution and all the laws of the Republic of Kosovo in its entirety and in every detail, as well as the principles of the Council of Europe ", announced Gërvalla.
