American professor Daniel Serwer, in an interview with Kosovo media, spoke about the December 28 elections and what is expected to happen in relation to the processes in which Kosovo is involved and relations with allies.
Serwer said that the result of December 28 was a strong vote in favor of Kurti, however, according to Serwer, the majority with which Kurti will form the new government remains unclear.
Regarding the unblocking of the Dialogue, after a long stalemate, Serwer said that he hopes that the new government will be open to positive steps in the Dialogue.
" However, it takes two to tango. I don't think Vuic wants to get seriously involved ," the American professor told Gazeta Express.
Serwer said he hopes Kurti will be more open about normalizing relations with Serbia, but doubts that Serbia will do the same.
Regarding the Ohrid and Association Agreements, the American professor said he expects there to be pressure from the US and the EU towards Kosovo to make progress.
" I anticipate pressure from Washington and Brussels, but I am waiting for certification before speculating on who will form the new government ," Serwer stated.
The American professor says that his advice to every prime minister of Kosovo is to be open to dialogue and rigorous in implementing obligations.
“ The goal should be to ensure that Belgrade takes responsibility for its reluctance to implement the agreements already reached ,” he says.
Regarding the Strategic Dialogue that has been suspended, Serwer said that the US and Kosovo should re-engage in it once a new government is established in Kosovo.
