After the great crises, it seems that Kosovo has returned the international factor to its side. Unlike the EU, which does not condemn the aggression and follows Vucic, the USA, Britain, but also Germany have reacted very harshly.
The first to hit Serbia was American ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier. He said yesterday that the attack in the North was well thought out and very well planned. It also raised suspicions that the weapons were brought in with government support.
Today, an even stronger statement came from Germany's envoy to the Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin. In an interview for ARD, saying that the attack on the Kosovo police was a criminal and terrorist attack.
Sarrazin said that the background of the attack still remains unclear. Asked about Russia's role in destabilizing the North, Sarrazin said that "it certainly has an influence, but no one knows how far it goes."
The German emissary further added that "Putin can be an easy excuse for some circles in Belgrade who start the fire and then point the finger at Putin and claim that they could not have stopped it".
Regarding the continuation of the dialogue for normalization and the German role, Sarrazin said that the path to a solution goes through dialogue and led by the EU and EU membership.
He has said that Germany can "be an important violin, but only as part of the EU concert where the conductors are Lajçak and Borell".
When the journalist asked him if he agreed with Vucic's statement that "the attackers were provoked by the terror committed by the Kosovo Police against the Serbs", Sarrazin said that such a description is wrong and does not present a true picture of the events during the weekend.
Sarrazin has said that there are diametrically opposed positions between Kosovo and Serbia regarding the events in the North and according to him this represents "a risk of conflicts and escalation in the future".
