The Kosovo Albanian, Faton Hajrizi, who was killed by the Serbian police a few weeks ago, was buried today in his native village in Klinë te Ulët in Skënderaj.
Hundreds of citizens gathered there for the funeral of the 39-year-old, whose main streets were surrounded by national flags and flags with the logo of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Many had also come from beyond Drenica to attend the funeral of Faton Hajrizi, who was killed by Serbian authorities on July 19, a day after he was reported to have killed a Serbian policeman and wounded another in the town of Lloznica.

Some of the participants in the funeral carried T-shirts and banners with photos of Faton Hajrizi, despite the fact that Prime Minister Albin Kurti had requested that he not be glorified and that citizens "not fall prey to the euphoria of his heroization and romanticization".

We remind you that Faton Hajrizi was convicted at least three times by two courts for murder, attempted murder, theft and robbery. He is best known for the murder of a Russian soldier of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, on February 29, 2000, when he was 15 years old.

On July 6, he escaped from the "open type" prison in Smrekonica, Vushtrri, where he had been staying for the past few months. His whereabouts were unknown for about two weeks, until it was reported that one policeman had been killed and another injured in Lloznica, Serbia.

He was killed by the Serbian police, the author of that murder, while three weeks later, the authorities there allowed the removal of Faton Hajrizi's lifeless body, after an effort by the family's lawyer.
